About Us...
Murrieta's Well is a historic property in the Livermore Valley, founded in 1884 by Louis Mel, a grape grower of French orgin. In 1990, under the name of Murrietta's Well, the small winery was brought back to life by the joint efforts of Phillip Wente and Sergio Traverso. Their flagship wines include our Red Meritage and White Meritage, blends of Bordeaux grape varietals, and Zarzuela, a blend of Spanish and Portuguese varietals, modeled after the famous Spanish blends of Ribera del Duero and Rioja. The estate, old-vine Zinfandel from the renowned Raboli Vineyard and small lot Los Tesoros de Joaquin wines round out our exclusive portfolio.
