In November 2008, the Livermore electorate passed a parcel tax, known as Measure M, to provide funds to maintain critical programs for Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) students.  In June 2014, the Livermore electorate passed Measure G to extend the support provided by Measure M, which expired in June 2015. Measure G takes effect during the current tax year, 2015-16. Specific in the ballot language of the parcel tax measure is the formation of an independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee to perform annual reviews.

The LVJUSD is extending an invitation to the Livermore community to apply for vacancies on the Measure G Citizens’ Oversight Committee. The LVJUSD has 5 positions to fill on the Committee this year. Applicants should be representatives of one of the following sectors of our community:

  • A parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the District or Charter School and active in a parent-teacher organization   or School Site Council
  • A financial or legal professional
  • Active in a business organization representing the business community located in the District
  • A member of the community at-large

Committee members serve a two-year term.  The new Committee members will serve during the initial two years of Measure G. The Committee usually meets in the evening at the LVJUSD District Office, during the months of January through May, on dates agreed to by the Committee. In addition, the Committee prepares an annual report which it presents to the Board of Education by the end of June.
