Livermore, CA – (November 29, 2017) – The Bothwell Arts Center will bring back the glitz and glamour of the 1920s in a “Gatsby Jazz Age Party” on Saturday, February 3, 2018. The Bothwell will be decorated in art deco style and costumes featuring the generous fringe, feathers and gems of the period are encouraged. With professional dancer Marina Shumilova leading the way, guests can dance to music from the Roaring Twenties era by the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra. Generous plates of appetizers, a silent auction, and a prohibition-themed blind wine raffle will round out the evening. The biggest fundraising event of the year for the Bothwell, tickets are just $100 each.

“We’ve designed this event to be a glittering celebration of the 1920s and to reflect the many types of art created at the Bothwell every day,” said Anne Giancola, manager of the Bothwell Arts Center. “The 1920s ushered in a vibrant period of art, from architecture and glassware, to jewelry and clothing, as well as music.” Part of Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, the Bothwell Arts Center is as a non-profit arts incubator offering affordable classroom, rehearsal, performance, event, and studio space for artists, musicians, and arts organizations.

“There is no other facility in the area that can as easily accommodate such a wide range of visual and performing arts experiences as the Bothwell,” Giancola added. “We hope everyone will turn out for the ‘Gatsby Jazz Age Party’ to celebrate what the Bothwell brings to the community and the ways we envision growing into the future.” The event has been generously sponsored by UNCLE Credit Union, Jean King and Joan Seppala.  Additional  sponsorships are available, contact Anne Giancola at agiancola@lvpac.org.

“How to Gatsby,” scheduled two weeks before the fundraiser on Saturday afternoon January 20th, will provide a fun opportunity to get ready for the big event. Liz Roberts, co-owner and jazz dance director at Livermore School of Dance, will teach simple steps to the Charleston. Attendees will also be able to purchase 1920’s-style costume finery to complement their outfits. Free for “Gatsby Jazz Age Party” ticket holders, admission to “How to Gatsby” costs just $10 which can be applied to the price of a “Gatsby Jazz Age Party” fundraising event ticket.

Tickets are available now through the Bankhead ticket office at 2400 First Street, 925.373.6800, or online at www.lvpac.org. Both the Bothwell Arts Center and Bankhead Theater are operated by Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and offer a wide-range of programs providing access to the arts for the Tri-Valley community and beyond.
