CITY OF LIVERMORE ANNOUNCES NEW COMMUNITY ACADEMY – “KEY TO THE CITY”

Livermore, CA – The City of Livermore is pleased to announce its first community academy called “Key to the City”.  This academy is a free, 11-week program which provides a unique and fun behind-the-scenes look at municipal operations and encourages participants to take a more active role in the community.  Sessions will focus on a variety of City services, and explain the “how and why” of service delivery and decision making.  Participants will also be able to apply their new knowledge through interactive, hands on activities and case study discussions.  “Key to the City” is open to anyone who lives or works in Livermore.

The academy runs from Tuesday, March 10th to Tuesday, May 12th from 6-9 pm at various locations throughout the City.   Session themes include “Unlocking the Mysteries of City Government,”  “Money Matters,”  “Law and Order,”  “Some Like It Hot,” and “Voyage to the Bottom of the Street”.  At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive a graduation certificate from the Mayor and be recognized at a subsequent Council meeting.  “Key to the City” is structured similarly to the Livermore Police Department’s successful Citizen Academy.  The new program provides greater awareness about the City, and encourages relationship building and conversations between the City and community members.

Deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 17, 2015 and space is limited.  Applications are available online at www.cityoflivermore.net/k2City.  For more information, call 925-960-4040.
