Larry R. Lakes, CEO

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce Larry R. Lakes as chief executive officer of Hope Hospice. Lakes’ appointment follows the retirement of Helen Meier on June 10 after serving Hope Hospice as executive director from 2002 to 2011.

“Larry comes to us with a unique combination of private-industry and nonprofit experience,” says Charles Crohare, president, Hope Hospice Board of Directors. “His prior experience in the healthcare industry, financial management and the last six years with nonprofit agencies provided the foundation the board was looking for to ensure that Hope Hospice continues to innovate and emphasize high quality care for our patients and their families as we deliver vital services to those at the end of life.”

Prior to joining Hope Hospice, Lakes was executive director of a Catholic Charities division in Sonoma County, the largest homeless services provider north of San Francisco and south of Portland. In addition Lakes worked with an agency that provided 33 services in six northern California counties.

Lakes’ career has taken him across the United States in executive positions for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Sanus/New York Life, Kestrel Group Companies and others. A native of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Lakes earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, Arlington, TX; and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Dallas.

“What I bring to Hope Hospice is my wide-range of experience in several industries and in many complex operating situations. I understand the success of a nonprofit agency is due to the daily work and support of all the people and volunteers whose collective efforts provide the services. I strive every day to support and assist employees to do the best job possible for patients and their families,” says the new chief executive officer.
