Students in Grades 3 – 5 Receive Dedicated Access to Google Chromebooks

March 3, Livermore, California – Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) has launched a new 1-to-1 pilot program at Marylin Avenue Elementary School. The phrase “1-to-1” refers to programs that ensure each student has access to an internet-enabled device. At the third grade level, each class will have dedicated Chromebook carts in the classroom. Students in grades 4 and 5 will have access to the device both in school and at home.

“The reality of today’s economy is that digital literacy is a new standard in many careers,” says Superintendent Kelly Bowers.

The pilot program includes teacher training by the District’s Technology Integration Specialists, made possible by our community via Proposition G. Parent outreach has included information about how to support students as they explore a new way of learning by accessing information through electronic learning.

The District’s Technology Plan envisions full implementation of 1-to-1 initiatives that reach each student in the District. The implementation of the 1-to-1 program at Marylin Avenue represents a major milestone along the path to achieve this vision.

Teachers at Marylin Avenue Elementary, as well as District staff and administrators, will support implementation and monitor student and teacher progress in order to identify key learning to replicate and expand this 1-to-1 pilot program.
